Preserving authenticity means choosing minimal intervention and change, out of respect for the piece and its history. Thus the use of reversible glues and identical screws and nails is the best approach — and a very advantageous one at that. Wood species poorly chosen in a previous restoration are replaced with sawn, rather than sliced, veneers.

From the candle to electric lighting, from oil to today’s LED, a specialist can advise you on the best method to electrify your lamps without damaging them.
We are able to carry out virtually any repair on antique lighting, public or private.

Metalwork restoration
Less obsolescence
For metals, glues are to be avoided, as they are unreliable over time and weaker than brazing or soldering.
To straighten, the craftsman uses “stakes” (variously shaped tools for reshaping from the inside).
For cleaning lightly oxidised metals, suitable products are used. For heavily oxidised objects, we use a polishing machine and acids that allow greater effectiveness.
Art restoration
Paintings and gilding
Our cabinetmaking workshop restores the frames of your paintings. To do so, we take charge of the works to be restored so that:
- The cabinetmaker restores the frame
- The gilder re-gilds the frame
- And, where appropriate: a specialist relines the canvas, cleans the paint layer and retouches the damaged areas
